Ah, Nice, I didn't realize AmpliFi could be added to a Google account for management!

Also, it looks like Unifi support for UNMS isn't slated until Q4 2018, boo...

I would never use the EdgeMax + UniFi combo in a layman house.

If UNMS does actually allow for full management of Unifi APs, does that change your thoughts on this at all? If you're going to be the one installing and configuring the devices (potentially for a family member) in the first place, you're probably going to be the one maintaining/troubleshooting as well, no? Connect them to your UNMS, and call it good. That would seem to be a huge benefit over the AmpliFi product line, which probably wont be supported in UNMS.

Edit: scratch that, it looks like AmpliFi is on the roadmap for UNMS. I guess that makes this whole question irrelevant!

If there's a basement/crawlspace you should be able to easily run a new cable and put the AP wherever it's used most or in the center of the house.

Has the ER-4 been released? Is that supposed to be a replacement for the ERL?

ER-4 is slated to be $199 and have significantly better performance than the ERL, claiming 3.4mil pps.

I use an ERX at home, it's been great. Along with a UAP-AC-LR. It's been a solid setup so far.

How the F does a turned off computer/VM need to be licensed? Does this mean that full backups of VMs each need their own licenses?! If so, I'm so screwed on licenses...

But the info from a ODB connector would be useless without GPS data

I think most of these devices have GPS tracking built in.
Edit: Maybe not most, I don't know for sure, but there are certainly ones available that do.

Or Ubiquiti hasn't posted release notes. Do they list any other beta products under main product page?

At a quick glance it doesn't appear so, but the beta forum seems to be the most definitive source that the product is definitely still in beta. Also like @brianlittlejohn no date code seems to be another big indicator. This definitely sucks though, I feel your pain.

In @marcinozga's defense, BH Photo and Baltic Networks are both authorized resellers and they both do have the product available. Definitely seems like a distribution error here.

    • RE: Ubiquiti - piss poor customer service

@marcinozga Exactly, you don't have access because you aren't part of the beta program! Sign up for the beta program, and you will see endless posts about how these aren't ready for production and all kinds of people having the same exact RMA issues as you.

There's obviously something wrong in the distribution channel for all of these resellers to already have this product available.

Edit: this is the official aircube forum, there are hundreds of posts in there.

@marcinozga Dude, is this your first time getting a bad product from a bad reseller on the internet? You seem super salty about this for all the wrong reasons. You're mad that you don't want to return it to where you bought it because it will take to long, you're mad that Ubiquiti's only support for beta products is the forum... You pulled the short straw, it sucks, go through the proper channels and get it handled correctly
