    • Doubts regarding VoIP system

Hello ML. My first post here. I'm based out of India.

Have a doubt regarding Voip system. Client has an single PRI line and a Siemens PABX system. Currently internal calls are charged by the telco. They would want to cut down this cost, hence exploring Voip for communications.

If an IP PBX like Asterisk/Freepbx is used along with IP Phones, would internal calls still be charged? I'm confused on this part since I would still be assigning the DID numbers from the PRI lines to the extensions.

    • Windows 10 volume licensing questions

      Hi,

Need some clarity on MS volume licensing. From what I've read on ML and other forums Win 10 Volume licensing is only available as an upgrade. There has to be an underlying qualifying OS licensed either via OEM/Retail channels to use the upgrade license.

If I don't have a legit qualifying OS for a few systems, lets say 10, what would be the way to go? Buy 10 Retail license first and then 1 upgrade VL license?

    • Port forwarding custom ports in sonicwall appliance

      Hello guys!

I'm trying to port forward a few custom ports for a requirement. I've used the wizard to setup required NAT/firewall
policies. However the ports were still blocked.

I've also tried to create the objects and policies manually, but still couldn't get the ports to be open. Attaching NAT policy and Firewall ACL screenshots for reference.

I'm trying this on NSA 2600 running SonicOS 6.2.  Could someone point me on how to trouble shoot the issue?

@taurex Yes, I did select it. Outbound policy is created as well.

    • RE: Windows 10 volume licensing questions

wow, didn't except so many discussions!

I was suggested to buy the SKU FQC-09478. In spiceworks forum it was mentioned that SKU was a Get Genuine sku that is usually bought for non compliance after an audit. And the correct SKU is FQC-09525. But I could also find FQC-09131.

Could someone confirm the correct SKU I should go with? Sales rep is really not helpful, he keeps pushing me to buy the FQC-09478.

Have a doubt regarding one more scenario. For upgrading Win 8.1 pro under volume licensing to Win 10 pro, just purchasing the Win 10 upgrade licenses should be enough?

That's one option. Assuming your one VL is so that you can image instead of doing manual individual installs, yes. However MOST people would go with OEM here. The chances that you'd want higher cost retail and want to move them around is low. Possible, but low.

The most typical approach here is all OEM. Generally if you are using Windows you want it to be the only OS you ever use on that hardware.

Is it okay to install an OEM license to a PC that's running a illegal OS? I thought OEM is for resale only.

You sure that that is a PBX and not a gateway?

What would be the function of gateway? How is it different from a PBX?

No PBX will have the issue that you describe, something is very wrong if your telco has any means of seeing your calls, even on a 50 year old PBX. Either they have access into your facilities that they should not have, or your calls are leaving the building without being handled by your PBX, or you have the device shown and you have no PBX.

I haven't visited the client site yet scott, all this information is gathered through phone conversation with the prospect.
I will be visiting them tomorrow. I would need to identify if its an PBX in the first place!

Thanks @scottalanmiller and @Breffni-Potter for the clarification.

@scottalanmiller Could Indian telcos use any specific tool/technology to monitor internal calls? Or is it something impossible?

Current PABX is Siemens Hipath 3550. Is this a proper one?
