This has really been a long time coming. X11 is very old and a lot of people have been trying to figure out how to get this replaced. Probably makes sense that Google really just took the lead on this.

l think that it is important to not judge one vendor by the bad behavior of others. There will always be badly behaving vendors who pull a fast one, cheat you, steal your data or what have you. But you can't assume that everyone will do that or you would be unable to do business. If we looked at it that way, we would assume that because AMC went belly up that all car companies are going to go out of business and we would stop buying new cars because we are assuming that warranties are worthless because we are not evaluating the existing car companies based on their own merits but evaluating them based on the failure of an unrelated company.

RE: JavaScript is Uniting Microsoft and Google
Nice. @QuixoticAndy and I were just talking about AngularJS and TypeScript this week. Perfect timing.

RE: What Is Your CloudatCost Project?
I'm building a small MongoDB server there so that I can follow along with the MongoDB training that I am doing on PluralSight.

RE: If you are new drop in say hello and introduce yourself please!
Hey everyone? Just found this community and wanted to say Hello! This is the QDesk team from Quixotic Software. We are a new software startup just getting the ball rolling.

RE: Today's Project: Testing Digital Ocean
Digital Ocean has a really interesting portfolio with stuff like MEAN and LEMP baked into a single instance, ready to go.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Who knows when we will have a demo of QDesk available, would be awesome to have someone testing us out when we are ready for a private release. Going to be completely free and completely hosted, so other than a nice web browser, no performance worries.

When you do I happen to know a forum full of cool people who'd likely be interested in it....
LOL. Thanks. Getting rapid feedback from potential users is exactly why we are looking to do our development "out in the open" here in the community! We hope to get lots of rapid feedback, ideas and testers

Nothing public to show yet, maybe as some progress is made Andy's team can post some screenshots of what is coming.

RE: MySQL on Linux to configure Bunch of Rows in a Table

@scottalanmiller The web application I built was with php and mysql. I looked at ruby on rails and did a little bit with it, but what I'm really interested in is node and MongoDB. I have a MEAN stack spun up on digital ocean that I have been learning with.
Quixotic is primarily a MEAN shop now. It is a transition for us as no one came from a MEAN background. @QuixoticAndy is principle engineer and came from a C# background. But we are making the transition and loving the technology.

Absolutely, very different disciplines. Different skills, different training, different job responsibilities. There is cross-over, of course, but it is limited.

RE: ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus Hosted
We definitely want to address issues of flexibility like this. As a new system, we have to assume that all of our users will be coming to us from other systems. Spiceworks being one of the better known of them.

RE: ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus Hosted
Not yet, but getting closer. Will be a few weeks before there is any hope of screenshots.
The MVP is going to be pretty bare, but we hope that a few people find it useful. That's really our initial target, getting an MVP out the door.

RE: Valve Launches Steam Machine Store
That is pretty cool. I would like to get my hands on one of these and see how it is. I'm skeptical but interested.

RE: ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus Hosted
As we at Quixotic are working on a helpdesk, I'm interested in this issue. You want to have selectable IDs? Is this so that the ID field will be able to reference an external system using a consistent ID?

RE: Software HDD Encryption: Poll
That's a reason that we love making web-based SaaS applications. The only thing you have to protect from the end user standpoint is the login. As long as that is protected, all is well.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Getting pretty close to wrapping up here. Still working mostly in stealth-ish mode. Nothing real to show for anything yet. But getting closer. Can't wait till we have stuff to show and can get some community feedback on what we have been doing.
