Prog rock is the "hipster" genre. You either have to be a virtuoso, stoner, or most commonly, a stoner who deeply believes themselves to be a hipster and a virtuoso. So, those who listen to it think the are better than the rest of us, but none of the rest of us could give a crap. It's like most of the people I have met from Perry, NY.

Actually, I only know prog rock from having worked in the genre (managing original prog rockers like ELP and Greg Lake) and from friends who have prog rock bands going back to the 80s and 90s. If they are hipsters, they were hipsters before it was cool. Like like three decades.

That's because the "green" stoners were adopted into the hipsters, or maybe hipsters are a splinter group of stoners who distanced themselves from the Pantera crowd, yet didn't want to be associated with the Dylan crowd either. Something like that...

@art_of_shred I'm not familiar with "green" stoners. Most stoners that I know listen to country, not rock, strangely.

It's so hard to come up with a good serious band name. All the cool ones are silly, and all the serious ones sound like you're trying too hard. I like 'The Kings of Uranus". How about that?
