Is it possible to test the controller on one of these units?

So to summarize, we have 2 new drives installed, and I'm attempting to "Factory Reset" the unit. None of the instructions I've tried work. So I'm kind of stumped.

To me I'd just toss this unit out but I would also like to know for sure.

There is no way these have a controller, they'll be software RAID

Controller? In a consumer NAS? No such product on the market.

It's just a little, wimpy Linux box. If you can access the console somehow, but I doubt that they enable that.

So just buggy ass software, and the device is useless then?

Doesn't it say useless right on the front? Oh wait, it says Lacie. Sorry, in my mind I heard "useless."

But yes, sounds like it is a paperweight. Toss it.

You could try hacking it for a weekend project. It's got all the right bits to be an interesting toy.
