No, I don't. I'm hoping that this works locally on the NAS so that I can set up the NAS at my SIL's house and have it upload on its own.
-
@scottalanmiller Does ReadyNAS run a Linux distro or something? Cron Job + acdcli = OffSite backups
-
I followed this guide to get everything set up and working. I don't have autoupload going yet, but it should be as simple as a cron job...

What I have to upload does not change, it just needs to be done one time and then the NAS can be taken offline and stored and we will just use the ACD as the main storage.
-
If you're just using it for straight up storage and don't care, then yea... just run the acdcli upload.... until everything uploads. (It doesn't reupload files that already exist, so if you have a power outage or have to restart it or something... you should be good).

Oh even better. That's awesome. I am so working on this this weekend. Like our continuous downloads of video games, we need this huge upload of movies so that what we own is accessible to us when we travel! So cool.

@scottalanmiller Yeah... I'm super excited about this. I have already shut down Plex on my Hyper-V server at home. Everything is C@C and ACD now.
-
ACD + Fire TV is a huge win. I mean truly epic for us. I can't believe how good it is turning out to be.

We have a Roku 3 and it works flawlessly with Plex. One of the reasons I haven't ripped my entire library yet is because I had not space to store it. Not a problem at all now!
Plus, you can share your Plex libraries with others... as long as you don't have 10 or 20 people playing videos out of your Plex + Amazon system, Amazon shouldn't complain either way.
-
With my new setup, I don't need Plex at all, which is awesome. One step leaner than even that.

I am guessing that Amazon is going to back off the unlimited storage just like Microsoft did.....

I'm guessing very much the opposite. Lots of reasons but here is why I think this...
- There is no connection between them and that MS did this in no way suggests that anyone else will.
- Amazon said unlimited, backing off would be foolish.
- Amazon is making a huge point of encouraging the very behaviour that MS called ridiculous
- Amazon has so much more capacity than MS, the issues facing MS do not face Amazon
I haven't seen any reason to be suspicious of Amazon not keeping the unlimited feature around. MS was always sketchy on their large capacities, Amazon has never been.
-
For example, MS said "it's like people are uploading their movie collections here."
Amazon, on the other hand, is spending money to not just let you upload your movie collections but is actively building features around making that the killer feature of the storage platform!
-
I may Nab the FireTV in a last-minute Christmas Special or something, lol. Is it pretty much just Android (or Amazon's take on it?) or is it something completely Amazon?
Since you have one, can you check and see if the SlingTV app is available on it?
-
Fire TV is an Android device but with Amazon's own store on it. It's very limited in use, but that's what makes it nice too. You can only do so much with it, but it works well for what it is. It comes in tiny, cheap stick models or 4K set top box models. Prices I've seen are from $25 to $75 when on sale. Unless you get the gaming one like me that includes a 32GB SD card, $50 game controller and two games as well.
-
The Fire TV is an NVidia Tegra K1 quad core 64bit RISC processor with 192 cores of GPU as well. It's pretty impressive.
-
So to get the Google Store, you have to root it and upload the Google Apps?
