I think I'm going to get a Steam Link this month or next month. For $50 I think testing it out would be worth it. Especially if it means I can just store my gaming PC in a closet somewhere and have a little set top box for everything else.
You should have gotten it last week when it was $35. First time that I know of that it was ever on sale. Mine arrived at dad's last week. So I'll be playing with it this weekend.

I didn't even see that! You need to start posting deals here! I was hoping it would go on sale again for the summer sale.

My friend just recently asked me about it. He needs to be able to either play it wirelessly or use something like this. The ethernet through powerline stuff I've never used. Back in the day it was crappy, but now the tech specs look impressive on paper. I have no real world experience to really say one way or the other if it's going to work well. Have any of you played with these?

Master of Magic is on sale in the GoG sale... This one is hard to turn down.

Mine is waiting for me to test out this weekend. I'll update you once I play with it.

@wirestyle22 Its been a 3-4 years, they didn't work well then except for light web browsing/email. I haven't used them since then. I know back then you couldn't put them on a surge protector.

Yeah and I'm sure a direct line is probably necessary to get those kinds of speeds. What about interference?

Mine worked on surge protectors, believe it or not.

Steam Link is streaming video, audio and inputs though right? I can't imagine this would work well.

And I failed. I also failed to turn down MoO 1 & 2, and Colonization.

Yes, it is basically a KVMoIP for video games.

@wirestyle22 Alot of how well it works will just depend on the wiring of the house itself, my recommendation is to purchase a kit from a place that has a good return policy.

I basically said the same to him. Wireless sucks for streaming but I can't imagine this would be much better.
-
@wirestyle22 If he has a Coax running through the house, I've had real positive experience with MOCA adapters. (The will not work with satellite tv though)

It's generally lower latency and far lower interference in most cases. It will generally be far more like wired ethernet than wireless unless you start putting lots of devices on the powerline network and getting collisions. For just one device, should normally work exceptionally well.

Do you have a link to those? I have some coax running in my house that isn't attached to anything.

This is what I have used in the past
I think the may have newer versions out than those.
They won't work past an amplified splitter, but will work through passive ones.

Haha, nope, at that price I'll just run CAT6. Thanks for the info though I'll keep it in mind for the future.
