Best, free, fast web dns
-
Any of you guys use non ISP DNS? Having issues using a site at a client and the tracert is just bad for the site. Open DNS? Whatcha got? The site is www.caretracker.com
 -
I just use Google 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 if needed.
 -
You can use this free DNS benchmark tool to try to find a good/fast DNS server.
 -
DNS may not be the issue though. Ideally, any public DNS server should return the correct IP addresses for that site.
 -
I never use ISPs DNS. I would use OpenDNS. Google of course is gathering information about you as they are a data mining company.
 -
I use Comodo for personal DNS, 8.26.56.26 and 8.20.247.20.
 -
I get the right site, but it's the route it takes getting to the site that sucks. Caretracker tells us it's our ISP.....

 -
Almost always use Google first and OpenDNS second.

Odd. I get about 40-50ms response times from that site. And the tracert reflects that.

This is using google. client uses this site a TON on 20+ workstations concurrently and performance is terrible. any ideas? -

Have you tried changing their DHCP dns servers to forward to Google or openDNS?
 -
Once it leaves your gateway, there isn't much you can do.
 -
where are you located coliver?
 -
@hubtechagain Upstate NY.
 -
Does the site use a CDN or anything? If not using Different DNS servers wouldn't change your route. It would be something to do with how their ISP is peering with the other network.
 -
not sure about a cdn (or how to tell). so what steps can I take to better their experience? this is terrible. constant lock ups, time outs, etc when using web forms.
 -

I'm getting a consistent mid 60's ms pings.
 -
yeah, that's what I get for the most part as well. but our provider says that's not good enough. and say that we're the only ones with issues etc.

The always say that even if everyone has the problem

not good enough? Over the internet? What are they wanting?
