Mobilegeddon: How Google is Changing Mobile Search Ranking
-
Google has made a recent change in how smart phones get search rankings. SEO folks are freaking out as this "changes everything."
But there is another obvious question - should mobile users be upset that they are getting different results than they would get elsewhere?

That's a good question and for me, the answer is probably yes. I say "probably" because I don't actually know exactly what Google has changed. I want Google to serve me with websites that are most relevant to my search, not to the device I'm searching on. I'm interested in content, not the way that content is presented. I will often view a website's PC site even on my phone, as it often contains more information and I couldn't give a shit what it looks like.
Search should primarily be about content, not design.
That said, if they are only prioritising pages within sites and not sites themselves, then maybe I'm ok with it.

I, too, am concerned that results on my phone are not as good as the results on the computer. I often get search pages that are nothing but ads and unable to find things that, on a computer, are easy to search for. I've never been happy with mobile-only pages or mobile-altered search results.
