      Large scale studies basically don't exist in IT. Why is that?

        Just my 2 cents, but I think time is the biggest hurdle.

          Time is pretty huge, that you spend a decade getting to a point where you can assemble useful data and by then it is so completely useless that there was no point in the first point is pretty insurmountable.

            @scottalanmiller Exactly, otherwise if you could get the real un-altered warranty stats from these companies it'd go a long way to giving you what you want. It'd be a frosty day in hell before they released it, but maybe you could get a NDA and a research grant, release the data in a decade so they are safe.
