He was mowing a corn field with a lawn tractor - and previously had removed the heat shield. The old corn stocks got hot and started on fire.
Wrong tool for the job, but like many farmers, just wings it often. lol

yep... it was duh moment... although.. I'm not sure it would have mattered.. the heatshield probably wouldn't stop this problem 100% of the time anyway. The mower was a lawn tractor.. not a garden tracker... not designed for this..

LOL, um yeah. I grew up on a farm and we normally mowed everything with a garden tractor because it was faster.

yep.. right tool for the job...
he bought this lawn tractor for like $600... he' managed to keep it going through 10 busted spindles..
he's proud about wasting his own time fixing the damned thing instead of getting the right tool.That said, we probably do have less in cash invested than a decent garden tractor. but tons of personal time - which I guess is fine with him.
