Printer in non-domain environment connected but not printing.

Is the laptop able to get online, etc? Are you remoted into it at the moment, or the desktop?
-
Once I can get ahold of someone onsite to close Event Viewer, I can keep finding more information. I am aware of Homegroups, I just have no current access to check due to Join.me.

@thanksaj I am currently in the laptop

Can you ping the printer?
I'll check once I regain access to the machine. Note that the printer never shows as offline to the laptop.

Still, make sure you can ping it. I've seen statuses do some screwy stuff with printers mapped by IP.

While we're at it, can you tell us the make and model of the printer, as well as the driver being used?

I can ping it. Just regained access

Also, I'm assuming this is an x64 machine?

Do a ping -a to get the hostname and confirm you are pinging the printer. HP will be HP and the serial number as the hostname by default.

@FiyaFly Are both of these systems on the same Home Group?
The laptop is not in a homegroup. The wifi is set to 'work' and Windows says it cannot join a homegroup until the network location is set to home.

Technically you can change it from work to home but there is no need to.

The HP Photosmart 7520 returns on a ping -a as HPC5799A

x64, yes. Sorry, almost missed this reply.

Ok, so we at least know the IP is being used on an HP printer, so we can assume it's right. What driver it is using?

Same company
Yeah, but Join.me has a lot of restrictions on what it can access in Windows. LMI gets installed so it has much more accessibility.
So, after a process that was much more complicated than it should have been. I am now in LMI. -
