@thanksaj
Your theme has a sticky title set to the orange color see below:
.sticky .title {background-color: #ff5a00;
Create a child theme and change the color for the background color in the class sticky title.
Let me know if you need help with a Child theme setup.

Nope, I host it myself out of my apartment!

ok...the theme showed up as a Wordpress.com theme, not a wordpress.org theme. Ha...not all sites work as they claim! I used http://whatwpthemeisthat.com/ to see what theme you had.

Oh the theme is a Wordpress.com theme, but I host the actual WP instance out of my apartment.

@thanksaj ha....I didn't know you could use a WordPress.com theme on theself hosted WP. But then I have been using Responsive for 2 years and normally have highly modified child themes created from it.
I am working on our own starter theme using _s.
