It almost feels TOO informal. Not sure why, but it does.
-
I don't like it at all

The one good thing about reddit is they never change their UI. So once you learn it and get used to it, you'll never have to relearn it again.

True. It just feels like they have deliberately left it looking like an amateur site...
-
It's like Craigslist - they haven't made any major UI changes since they launched. New additions, sure, but not a whole revamp.

Exactly. To me, Reddit is on par with Craigslist for UIs.

I think part of the deal is that it doesn't change and is just easy to navigate and use.

Eh, I'm just ranting about how I can't stand their aesthetics....lol
-
I don't use Reddit, I find the website useless most of the time, and highly inappropriate any other time.
-
@Nic novel idea. Not changing a UI? How will you know that the site is fresh and new?

A lot of value to that. A lot of sites could learn from that. Change for change sake is a very foolish thing.

True, but I think this site could use a refresh...

Refresh? Why? So I have to re-learn a UI again, just so the site can appear "trendy"? F[moderated] that shit.

Lol That's one way to put it.
-
How would you feel if every year car manufacturers re-arranged where the steering wheel was, the shifter, the pedals, and the rear view mirror, just to be "hip"? That's how I feel every time a site does a redesign.

Unless its trendy not to be trendy

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Me too. I tend to be a community power user, I need buttons to not move, behaviour to not change and loading speeds to be fast. Anything that messes that up makes a site a lot less useful to me.

Reddit isn't flashy but it is pretty functional. Not my favorite but I appreciate the stability and predictability.
