Moving a Family to Chromebooks

So @Dominica 's sister's family was in need of a new laptop and after a few years of suggesting that they look into it we finally talked them into trying out a Google Chromebook. They don't really have any significant technology needs but do need their computers to be simple and easy. They have had several Windows machines in the past and one Linux desktop. This will be a bit of an adjustment for them. The idea that there was no CD drive and no need or means of loading software or drives, any software or drivers, was concerning.
But we talked them into giving their first device a try. So the HP Chromebook 14" was purchased and they should have it in a few days. I am looking forward to reporting on how it works out for them. I already started working with them to get them used to printing via the Google Cloud Printing system and using Google Apps for document editing. They are very excited.
I am hoping that they get a ChromeBox from Asus right away too to replace at least one of their desktops. They are a family of six so moving to the Chrome ecosystem could be really good for them making everything easier and more cost effective.

Great. A real world Chrome test would be nice. There are so many families for whom this could be an awesome solution but convincing them to leave the Windows fold and try something new can be so difficult.

One of the hardest things that I have found about getting people to try out something like this is actually that it is all too easy. Literally everything works so well and is so easy to do that it comes off as confusing coming from the Windows or Mac worlds. Even normal Linux is often "too easy" and ends up being confusing for that very reason.
