Why You Are on Mute
-
I've learned something in all my time being in call centers. There are three primary reasons why a technician puts you on mute:
- They need to ask for help from a fellow technician/management on the situation at hand
- They really need to vent out some frustration about this moron on the other end of the phone and how no one could possibly be this stupid!
- They really need to pee
-
Most people that I know use mute just to lower background noise.

@scottalanmiller I do it all the time. especially if I take a drink of water or something.

Certainly. But I see the other stuff much more. Taking a drink or something is a good reason, and common reason, people use mute though.

Also, it's a VERY good thing that no young children are here. They'd be scarred for life...
