The windows version temporary redirects opens your web browser, you sign in, Grant access and then the client connects.

That's what Linux and MacOS are supposed to do, but neither goes anywhere after you do that.

Mine is working on Fedora, turns out that that is 2.6.1... newer than we are seeing on other platforms.

My only issue is with the iOS version not connecting my Nextcloud server. That client provides the web login and the classic login.

2.6.1 AppImage on Ubuntu gets closer, but still does nothing. It never lets you input the token.

Part of the issue is that the "Grant Access" button does absolutely nothing.

The built in NextCloud Online Account system in Ubuntu works just fine. But that doesn't sync files.

                  17.0.1 and 2.6.1

I didn't know that about the other OSes. I don't think I would like that.

For me, 2.6.1 doesn't even offer ANY form of log in. Nothing.

Holy Cow. I just went to setup a new account and it did! Funny though, when it upgraded, it just continued using my credentials, so I never noticed the change. For kick I just logged out and back in and it used my browser.

Why are they using the extra step?

No idea. But so far, on MacOS and Linux it goes to the web page but never moves past there. It just sits there, forever.

FF is what I've been trying it on. It launches the default browser and that's what I have set.

Yes. I've tried all the default browsers on Windows and Firefox.

My laptop never had an issue. But has had the NC client for a year or more.

A new Fedora + CInnamon laptop works but every reboot pops the grant/allow disaster.

I did notice they also are developing a nextcloud drive client. Maybe a culprit?

it probably has to do with the ability to use 2FA. that's what MS's apps on mobile do - they kick out to the default browser where you authenticate and provide 2FA if needed, then it goes back to the app and you're in.

You mean a replacement client? Seems unlikely that they'd break the old one in order to promote a new one, it doesn't really do that.

Fedora workaround until it is released: sudo dnf install libgnome-keyring

I thought that issue was specific to Fedora GNOME. Ever since I started using the nextcloud app I've been including that package as part of my post install setup.
