Brocade switches

Any one encounter issues with stupid brocade switches? where the config will be lost when there is a power outage. I encounter it more than 3 times with different models. This brand is a joke.

@justin867 Never ran into Brocade before.
Do you have the switch on a UPS?
What if you power it down and turn it back on- do you lose any configuration?I ask because there may be a way to incorporate a UPS for the switch, so it can be shut down properly.

That's a good idea in general, but does not address his issue of a bad flash.

This means that either the flash is dead, or the configuration is not being written to storage and is being run out of RAM. The latter would be way more likely. Nearly all switches let you run configuration changes from purely memory so that you can test them and if you kill the configuration, just power cycle the switch to recover. Brocade is about as good as it gets, they are in competition with people like Juniper, Mellanox and Extreme at the top, top end of the game.
Almost certainly, since this is happening in multiple places, the configuration is not being written to storage to be retained through a reboot and is operating as expected. And likely no one is properly power cycling after configuring to test, or they would find the issue immediately.

From what I found online,
write memory
is the command to copy the running config to the startup config.

Brocade Fiber Adapter for SAN devices on servers also have that issue in which we need to turn off and on the ports so it actually maps the LUNs, happens all the time. I have never liked that brand.
