SAP HANA takes the lead on big data
-
It's been quite obvious SAP-HANA has been dominating on the large-scale enterprise, but it looks like they finally got their "claim to fame" on publicity. Very cool tech regardless, it's always interesting how "big data" is interpreted into meaningful metrics.

Not sure if Hana is dominating. Every large shop I know focused on Hadoop.

I've personally never worked with either, but I've looked at Hadoop recently. I was under the impression that they were like HDD vs SSD's. Larger big-data in-memory type applications were for HANA, and Hadoop was definitely larger scale but more for warehousing and more regular queries?
Regardless i agree that "takes the lead" might've been a bit FOX/CNN.

I've been doing a lot of Hadoop work over the years and I know of several other people who work on it too. Including SW, for example. Not just my banking and financial contacts. Hana is making noise but I've not seen it anywhere in the enterprise space yet, though.

That's really interesting, we actually moved over to a derivative of SAP Q1/2012 so I'm a bit of a fanboy of them I think.
