Has anyone put together an electrical backup strategy using transfer switches and standby generators?

      Something using components such as:

We did install a Standby Generator at our office like 3 years ago and we setup battery backups on all the systems but not the Transfer switches from Eaton.

you will want a UPS system size to allow your generator time to spin up and stabilize.. You likely will also want a line conditioner between your generator and UPS.

Things people don't seem to think about when they have a generator backup system -

          • Gasoline is a bad choice.. it goes bad.
          • Diesel or Propane / Natural Gas are better choices
          • Propane / Natural Gas- while it has less BTU per gallon is cleaner, and your generator will last longer
          • You MUST keep track of maintenance, fuel consumption and fuel usage (run times). What good is a generator if you run out of fuel
          • You must have BYPASS switching - Bypass the components when in maintenance mode
          • If you have Keycard access - Make sure it works without power...
          • Phone system needs to be powered.
          • Have at least one copper (POTS) line - it uses none of your power.. so should work.
