I can't recall my username, but I did sign up because my wife did and I selected German as she had and on the first day, in a couple of hours or so, I just sat there and went through about half of all the available lessons/checkpoints/whatever available just to irritate her before I got bored with it. It's really easy when there's no challenge at all. I then tried Spanish and it was much slower, much, much, much slower when you don't speak the language. Learnin's hard
Edit: I see now they have way more languages, they didn't even have Russian, only Ukrainian for some weird reason, back when I signed up. I think I might sign up for the Hungarian one to see if I can recapture any lost childhood skills since now if I try to speak Hungarian it sounds like someone that was thrown from a moving vehicle and landed on their head. When I was a small child I did much better, I only sounded like one of those moronic children people barely understand, rather than as an adult someone totally incomprehensible.

In it, but have been busy. I'll give it a try and see if I can catch up.

Finally, after months and months of simply "testing out" of the new DuoLingo system, I have finally completed it. Those who watch my points know that I've put crazy amounts of effort into getting this "all gold." Maybe six months of huge effort, just to "re-gold" after having made all gold in the older, easier system.
-
Spanish completion is 567 crowns.
-
Spanish "maxes out" at Level 25, which is a tiny fraction of what is necessary to go gold, not sure why they don't offer more levels than that given how the rest works.
For me to get to completion took 76,853 Spanish points.

Nice! Congrats! I hope to soon achieve the same in the language I'm doing. I've been pushing lately.

@scottalanmiller That's great. I just recently started back up on this. I also started on Tandem, which allows you to actually speak/chat with other learners. I have a hard time retaining information (language) if I am not speaking it.

Same here. So hard to retain.
Luckily I have to talk to Spanish only staff every day.

That happens with native speakers as well if they don't speak to anyone who speaks their language on a regular basis. I've experienced a bit of that, confusing myself and using the wrong words from the wrong language.

I would prefer that actually. I wish I were forced to speak to someone in Spanish daily. It would really ramp up learning.
