@NattNatt It is possible to do as i have done some googling but some are having issues.
1)Busybox needed to root but in that phone no root access
2)Debian Tried not possbile to do

if you can't root the phone, then you're not going to have much luck, it'll be locked the the OS that it came with...

in my experience that will never work fully and can cause a fair few issues...but intrigued to see how it works on that phone...

With the phone only having 196MB RAM it will struggle with most things I expect...No clue sorry.

A phone is not meant to run a full desktop OS, so very few around here will have any experience doing this sort of thing. Personally, I've loaded newer versions of Android onto older phones, but never a full desktop OS. Generally if you want a full desktop environment on a phone, you'd use some sort of remote access software to a different system.

Are you following any guides to do this? Would be great if you can share that and let us know where you are stuck.

Sounds like he is trying to install a Debian based phone distribution. Maybe something like https://www.ubuntu.com/phone?

As said before, you should share the guides you are following.

BTW: ML is a great community and somewhat Linux centric, but my first stop would be xda-developer for questions and guides in this case.

Just quick scanned the article: you are not installing Linux, but a package manager and a toolchain from a Debian / Gentoo based distro.

Not sure what you want to accomplish by taking this route.

Don't have time to read this one right now, but it looks like a variant of the previous approach.

What are you trying to accomplish?

A python script running on Linux inside you're phone is just not going to happen from what I've seen so far on this thread (the instructions you found are apparently incomplete and/or not correct for the model of phone you want to do this on.

Yes, I think that what you are trying to do may not work. But that doesn't mean that we can't solve the actual problem. Why do you need this Python script running and could it be run another way?

That article doesn't mention about VNC or such, looks like you used multiple articles to get this done, and haven't shared any screenshots or errors apart from your statement that its not working. And not sure what are you trying to achieve by installing it on a low spec phone, other than just try to see how it works!

Just found another how-to http://www.techrepublic.com/article/use-gnuroot-to-install-a-gnulinux-distribution-on-your-android-device/ Check this and see if you can set it up.
