@JaredBusch It's built on NodeBB not something you can really correct. 😐

        Sure you can.

        • Write a custom plugin to redo the UI
        • Submit a pull request directly to nodeBB with updates.

Neither of those are a skill I have so I have to rely on others.

And if there is an API, even a desktop app would be very possible.

It would be cool if you could integrate something that uses the slack protocol into the ML chat. Then you could use any number of clients to access it... not that I use the chat feature that often.

              XMPP is more general.

Preference really... I use chat extensively with @zuphzuph and a few others because I don't want to install a chat client on my work computer so I use that instead. I also chat through it a ton on my phone.

                  1. Notifications - All the people on this thread are fairly active and check ML whether or not they have mobile notifications. The people that aren't as active would benefit the most from notifications

Mobile app had that. It was just too annoying 🙂

I would like notifications. I can either disable them completely or swipe them away on my lock screen. I don't want email notifications in addition to app notifications. It's just too much.

Right, I was thinking of some of the cool things that Slack and it's derivatives are doing in the chat space. XMPP could also do the majority of those things though.

                      1. Agenda for Mangocon - Boom put the agenda on the mobile app. You could even use GPS location settings for the rooms, bars, national park, etc.

                      That would be very cool.

There probably isn't enough time to implement a full featured app before mangocon, but this is a good starting point.

The protocol is not what enables that. The clients would just be crippled.

I could possibly help with this before the conference. I could throw an app together using a builder pretty quickly. It would at least have an event calendar, it's own chat, and of course the website.

I made this in about 15 minutes using AppsBar. Obviously the icons, splash screen etc could be updated to look much prettier. We have some nice basic functionality though and it's completely free.
