What's with these intern's thinking it's okay to reboot servers in the middle of the day to install something?

California.

Just until Friday. Then the weekend in Texas. Then Panama next week.
-
Panama is central time, same as Texas and Chicago.
-
So you just got back from lunch or are you working second shift ? lol.
Normal work day for me is 8a to 5p most days.

Just got a ride to the train station so that I could get there from San Bruno.

California is standardly 10a - 5:30p. So between the three hours later time zone from the east coast and the two hour later start, it is actually five hours different in start time.
-
It's a major issue as vendors like Rackspace constantly call and wake people up here because they don't understand either the time zones or the difference in work hours.

ha ha ha. Dang. I need to move to California then. I hate getting up at 6 or 7am to be at work by 8.
-
@scottalanmiller I worked with a vendor who was on London time (is England considered part of the UK?).
Several times I had to go in at like 5am US time to meet them and fix issues.

Yup, that's why California tends to make the big money - they work like Europeans. Productivity trumps "sitting in the office." Totally different culture out here.

I spent much of my financial years as offshore support for the UK.

Doing a major Redis migration. It's actually fun as I am getting to know Redis and Redis Sentinel pretty well and am learning how to manage things.

What.The.Heck? (just because I don't to use the Minion What to often)
I rather want to call BS on this... A 'casual cigarette'? I am not a chemical engineer, Civil engineer,.. but I would suspect that the 'flash point' of the seal material would be higher than what a cigarette could manage..
But what do I know about it.
-
What we've heard was that it was not the sealing material but garbage that had collected in the joint that actually caught fire.

Calling it a day. Heading out to walk the Mean Streets of San Francisco to get back to the BART station at 16th and Mission and head back to San Bruno where we are planning to get dinner at Shari's.
