Tecmint has a guide to setting up and using the really interesting IPTraf tool for LAN IP traffic monitoring. IPTraf is built on nCurses for a powerful TUI, not a GUI. So it can easily run in a terminal session, over SSH, etc.

This is a tool well worth keeping an eye on.
