They appear to have an office in Toronto, but I have zero clue why they'd hire overseas. There is a glut of IT staff in Toronto
They also hired him a the highest salary you've ever heard of. Completely unrealistic number. And no interview yet but they've already requested all of his private data.

Don't know if it's legit or not. Or even if it's the same people you talked too.
I had him email them, but mostly just to alert them that they are being impersonated.

For a huge energy company it sure looks like they have zero presence in prime advertising space down town TO
A lot of this kind of company is just half a dozen people. They get pretty small. They don't drill, they research.

Actually we do know. He left out the details that they didn't email him from a company address but found him through LinkedIn. They emailed him from a Yahoo category email address - they didn't even both using GMail!
Then they told him to send a bunch of info to the Canadian government - but they gave a US freebie email address at Zoho.com for the Canadian border control officer.
It's a clear scam.
Dang. A Scam for sure. How'd you get all that info from the OP though?

We've been talking offline for an hour.

Whether any problem may come for me because I have given all my information and other certificates to the mail id they have provided me.The mail they used to mail me is blumail.org

It's all about identity theft. In the US, there is very little protection if someone steals your identity. I don't know what it is like in India. You should talk to people in India. This isn't anything that an IT community or a non-Indian reference could help you with. Basically someone, that we have no idea where they are based, has your passport and education info. What can they do with that? I don't know.
