Looking for discussion on what may work best, not attacks on the actual words I use and the order I use them.

I have a customer that posed a question to me today. The more you think about this question, the more complicated it gets!

They asked "What cheap tablet can we get and mail to clients who have no technology, that can zoom and do docusign? then they will send it back."

Well, I need to answer their question, but I also need to ask them how they want to handle the inevitable issues and problems.

The task is to get legal documents signed with Docusign, and the whole thing has to be recorded in Zoom.

I am looking for devices that may work, and I am hoping some of you may have already embarked on something like this, and may have good ideas to share.

Questions that immediately come to mind (in no particular order) are:

What if they don't have Wifi? Does our tablets need cellular?
      Which tablets have cellular?
Do we also need to send a tripod to hold it for them? (the clients are often quite old)
Do we install remote control like ScreenConnect on it; so the customer can assist the client with operating it?
What privacy issues may come to in to play? There may be SS numbers, there may be health conditions discussed....
Is a laptop better than a tablet for this?

      Any ideas or thoughts?

      Thanks!

Buy a laptop with cellular built in.

        It gives you

        • full control via WTFever control app you want.
          • Which lets you even start the meeting for them.
        • the ability to locally record if needed.
        • the ability to use any calling app you want.
        • the ability to have them simply tilt the screen down so that the documents are in view.

I agree with Jared. Simple laptop with Linux on it is about the best option if I was doing this from scratch.

To answer the basic question.... the cheaper Amazon Fire Tablets are probably the cheapest reasonable thing that you can get. They are essentially disposable and you can get really small ones.

But Jared is right, a tablet is wrong for this purpose.

IMHO you need to rethink this completely.

Imagine an 80 year old grandpa sitting somewhere in rural America.
You want him to sign something? Use USPS and send him a letter.

You want him to sign with an app, maybe connect with wifi, use a laptop or tablet??? LOL

Fortunately, we know which people would not be able to do this. So we have other ways to handle them.

Thanks Jared, excellent points, I'll urge them to go this route.
