Hotel and Resort Management System

Hello Everyone!
I'm back with a question guys!So, I have new project a Hotel and Resort Management System, the thing is this is my first time to make a system for a hotel and resort. Now the question is, I have no idea on what points should I check first? Do you know any reference? Any guide?
As per my client's advise, the scopes are Room Reservation and Employee Management and soon to include Billing and Accounting part and lastly, a website for them.We got this website, http://www.hotelmanagementsystem.co.in/ but I want more reference to start with.

Have you had them make their use cases yet? What requirements gathering processes have you gone through?

I find that documenting use cases from a combination of management interrogation and user observation and discussion is usually the starting point for this.

Just beware of a lot of PMS (property management software) solutions. That's what hotels use. So many nowadays use legacy software and backwards ways of doing things. When I worked at a previous MSP, there were hotels still running Java in the versions 5 and 6 because that was all their PMS would support. Now maybe they just had an old version of the software, maybe not. In any case, I don't have personal experience supporting the PMS systems as we simply called the vendor (support contracts were required under their contract with us). I can tell you Galaxy is a console-based system, usually using SecureCRT, the trumped up version of PuTTY, to connect and manage everything like we're back in the 80s. Lightspeed was a browser interface but I saw that requiring old versions of Java. Again, maybe it's an old version but I can't say for sure.

@scottalanmiller Yeah, I'll be visiting the hotel this end of the month to check the processes. And maybe checking all points of employees that needs automation. I'm really having a hard time on this one, because my client and I talked just once and all he said is this, in exact words "check our manual processes and automate. And include a website for desktop and mobile". That's all! hahaha!

A key point to being the system analyst for a development team is managing the client. You can't allow clients to give impossible requirements. You need to manage the scope and definitions. You are going to need that client to sign off on a definition of the completed project.
I assume, because of how the client is acting, that you are on a fixed price and not being paid by the hour? This is common behaviour when the client is looking to grow the scope and make you work for free. If you are on a fixed price, he has no incentive to give you a definition of completion.
