I have a Netgear ReadyNAS here that when powered on the thing fires up, fans go, it sounds like it is on as normal. But the power light just blinks. The unit gets a DHCP assigned IP address, however, so at least something is working successfully. I can ping the device. But the power light keeps blinking and the web interface(s) to it, and the SSH interface to it are not available. Anyone know what might be the cause or resolution?

No idea on the netgear, but the buffalo terastation line can boot into a recovery mode and if you have a tftp server specified in DHCP, it will pull certain files to recover.

I think that it is short on power. Might be the right voltage power adapter, but not the right amperage.

            That's extremely unlikely.

What does the manual say? What did Netgear support say?
