Ubuntu Server 16.03: UBNT Controller Password Recovery
-
Okay,.. so I've used Mongo in the past.. and more recently RoboMongo. No big deal here. Not going to link all the stuff to that, since it's know, I've used it successfully and such such so on.
So.. got the controller running this morning after fighting it (and work) last night.
Ubuntu 16.04 VM
UniFI 5.5.29Seems the written password I have is invalid.. no biggie.. yet..
$ mongo --port 27117 --shell --quiet type "help" for help > show dbs ace 0.078GB ace_stat 0.078GB admin (empty) local 0.078GB test (empty) > use ace switched to db ace > db.admin.find() >
and now what.. every document shows there should be a return here.. Ugh.. Try RoboMongo
Installed, setup connection to the VM by IP
But won't connect even with SSH Username/password. In the past (GASP - YOU DID WHAT) the Controller was also my desktop - so I had the full gui... this is server..
sigh.. let the bashing begin...

What won't connect, SSH? How are you seeing the output?

Seems like you don't have an admin on it right there. In my Ubuntu 18.04 server I needed to install the shell tools:
sudo apt install mongodb-org-shell
then I connected as you have it
mongo --port 27117 --shell --quiet
The results are below
-
sudo apt install mongodb-org-shell Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done mongodb-org-shell is already the newest version (2.6.12). mongodb-org-shell set to manually installed. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Connect via the CLI once you are connected via SSH.

Is that your actual version UniFI 5.5.29? or 5.9.29?

Do you have a backup from the other controller? Try setting up this controller completely new and import the backup settings after setup.
