Need help with art installation

My buddy is working on an LED art installation and is having some issues. His mac doesn't have a network port, so he using a usb gigabit hub, running straight into a pixel controller. He can access the controller and put it in test modes and change its settings and sees that it is working. Resolume is creating the pixel data, and it is set to broadcast, but nothing is boradcasted onto the LEDs. He is using trying to broadcast artnet, a dmx over ip protocol, to control the LEDs. Any ideas? We were thinking it's a network issue...

Could be networking, but hard to say. If he sees the controller, not so likely to be networking.
So it just broadcasts and accepts any signal it sees on the network?

So is the pixel controller DMX over network compatible? The app has to talk to the controller in a way that it understands.

@scottalanmiller We were thinking it was a dhcp conflict and connected the controller to his home wifi router. It's putting out a signal to the LEDs now, but incorrectly...

It's working via the wifi with a dedicated router, but still no luck with the gigabit hub.

Does your buddy have support from the Resolume people? That would be where I'd start as there are a lot of pieces to this that could be wrong.
