Ubiquiti - UAP-AC/UAP-AC-Outdoor LTS Announcement
-
I thought I would post this because I know a lot of us here use Ubiquiti products -
UAP-AC/UAP-AC-Outdoor LTS Announcement
https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Updates-Blog/UAP-AC-UAP-AC-Outdoor-LTS-Announcement/ba-p/2059058"...there are two first-generation models we will be moving to Long Term Support (LTS) only (i.e. security and stability updates only; no new features):
UAP-AC UAP-AC-Outdoor
Why are we doing this?
Adding features to these two models has proven overall more costly to our customers than of benefit. Attempts to add features to these models have frequently resulted in regressions impacting customers using these models - but more importantly - users of all Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 models. So in an effort to maintain quality (and add features) across the majority of UniFi lines, we will be moving the UAP-AC and UAP-AC-Outdoor to this long-term-support model.
When are we doing this?
UniFi Controller 5.6.x (firmware version 3.8.x) will be the LTS release for the UAP-AC and UAP-AC-Outdoor models UniFi Controller 5.7+ will not support the UAP-AC and UAP-AC-Outdoor models"
-
So, basically everything except for UAP-AC-* is being discontinued and most of that is losing support.
-
So what is replacing the low cost stuff?
-
I am pretty sure that it is just regarding continuous support of first-gen APs and not anything to do with current products.
-
So what is UAP-AC? Aren't they current?
I can understand the old UAP, but the UAP-AC are the current line

They specifically mentioned only 1st gen being affected.

No, it's ancient. This is current...
-
Only two old models affected. All other old models and all recent models are unaffected.
-
Ohh ok 2-3 years is ancient.... lol but know in computer terms it is.

What are you talking about?

Amazon started carrying that gear more than four years ago. Who knows how much older it was than Amazon selling it.

THe UAP-AC?
4 years ago I was buying the UAP there was the square AC model but I am pretty sure ( on phone now can't look) it was called something other than UAP-AC...

The square AC model is the UAP-AC. The UAP-AC v2 was the round one that followed it.
It's hard to figure out when it originally released, can't find anything on UBNT's site. But I can find online references to it going back a ways.

Ok, well in that case nevermind all is good. I haven't been able to dig into it as I'm dealing with issues in the field.
