Anyone hear of or play with SipXCom??

Back on the good old days when I walked to school uphill both ways in a blizzard (true story!) Nortel sold a product called the SCS-500 which was an "open source" IP phone system When they went belly up a company called Ezuce came in and started reselling it. We stopped carrying it/supporting it years ago. Was looking around at other "sip based' phone systems to play with now that the market is shrinking and found Ezuce is still around and has an Open Source product called SipXCom. Anyone have any experience with it??

Oh, used to be SIPFoundry. Have not used it but I remember them from the olden days. Seems like it would be worth checking out. Can't believe that we've missed it all these years.

Not heard of them, but I had looked at SIPFoundry a long time ago (2008) and did not like it because the core was SipX and was not fully open source.
I ended up using Asterisk from then on.

SipXCom forked them, partially for that reason. It is AGPL now.

Worth my time to play with it?I would say no based on the FAQ of their website. They have a complete new thing coming in 2017. If you want to play with their stuff, I would look for a beta of SWAM instead. It is obviously their focus.

Yes, I can read. Unlike others, I do not respond unless I read the linked article or already have knowledge on the subject in question.
Does not negate my response to him asking if anyone has heard of it or has experience with it.

Thanks for the input, I'll stick with FreePBX for my learning endeavors for now
