Besides, Verizon said that they can't bridge it, and they told me Actiontec told them that it can't be done. However, @PSX_Defector is nice enough to know there IS indeed a way and he's going to help me tonight.
Sounds like a Tier 1 support response. I would have asked to speak to a higher level tech that knows what bridge mode means.
Yeah, Verizon isn't very technical.

@ajstringham What features are you using?
The FiOS one is a clunky interface and one I don't have time to screw around with. I like managing my own equipment.

My FiOS modem is bridged down there in Dallas. It worked fine.

Don't tell @PSX_Defector that.

Yeah, @PSX_Defector said there is a way. He's out of state and was going to a movie with family, so we're gonna talk later.

I know it is clunky and crappy but you can't take it out of the chain. Unless you are doing something like setting up a site to site VPN or trying to add more security, you can't only diminish the quality of the connection. For a home, I'd not put another device in line.

@Bill-Kindle, kudos to the guy I was dealing with though. He was actually going out of his way to be helpful. I couldn't quite place his accent but it wasn't Indian. I'm actually having a hard time remembering now but it almost sounded like he was from the northern part of Africa, like a Morocco-esque accent. I could be completely wrong though.

Everything is gigabit. There will be a little latency but oh well, I'll deal. I like having my own WAP too. I don't like ANY ISP's modem/router combos and always told them to just give me a modem. No surfboard combo crap.

Unfortunately, that's not doable with Verizon...
