Hospitals!!!! What is with them not updating to new standards?
-
I mean really?!?!
-
This is a screen shot form today.

I completely agree - I wonder when the HIPAA police are going to come down on all these health systems that have super old systems.
This probably explains the real reason so my health systems in my town are moving to Epic - they have to for HIPAA compliance.
-
Few places actually do much to be compliant. They always say it but rarely do it.
-
I guess it's like speeding, it's clearly against the law, but until you are caught you do it anyway - and if the fine isn't enough to make you care, you'll definitely do it again.

cost of implementation is what most of my clients say. while i don't have any full hospitals, I've got several 30-100 employee clinics that are always slow to adopt. but when they do, they usually go all in

Just...wow...

Do your clinics have budgets? I mean real live budgets for IT or anything? Of course, to me, one of the best is an accural type where they are always saving for the next purchase so they have cash on hand when time comes... but who knows..

I'm always worried being serviced by a doctor who is that far out of date. As an IT Pro, I know not to use leeches. One would hope that a doctor would know that he at least needs to have an IT Pro.

Hospitals tend to be run by M.D.s Saw a survey across all customer types, and worse on the list? M.D.s
Not all that bad. Just need someone with a brain and a spine to put down the line: The update is a regulatory requirement. Like other policy issues, they'll grumble, but basically comply.
Occasionally there is a legit reason, such as niche vendors dragging their feet about updates (looking at you GE).
Just what has been seen.

yeah it's kinda funny - Drs seem to want all the latest and greatest toys for their personal life, but when it come to the office...

I just find it odd that doctors complain when they have to work with antiquated medical equipment but if the IT guy complains about antiquated IT equipment they just get yelled at.
