NopeDo we know what happened to the Emoji and/or why they suddenly disappeared? It's not critical or anything... but they are fun to use. Otherwise we will start filling up Imgur with lots of obnoxiously large smileys, lol.

NopeI have no expectation of that returning anytime soon. It's not part of NodeBB.

It's a different developer and not supported as part of the platform. From what I can tell, the plugin no longer works and no one is actively maintaining it. It's low priority so I am not really digging into it. There are new plugins being added that seem to indicate that updates are coming and that the infrastructure around it is changing. But honestly I find the emoji plugin system really frustrating. They've gone through many completely different plugins over the last two years and all but one have been dropped from the "official" list and the only one left appears to have no functionality at all.

Obnoxiously large smileys it will be, then.

Yup

@scottalanmiller Well, that's just craptastic. PHPBB had a whole raft of smilies in the early 2000's.

Their policy is to move everything to plugins, not have it in the core so that you have a tighter system if you don't want them. But the result is that things break constantly and no one takes responsibility for them.

Sounds like a government...

Also, what's with all these "forum updated messages" it's like pre-election propaganda

@nadnerB anytime that someone complains about the emoji I got and reset it to see if that fixes it. It doesn't. It won't.
-
I'm removing the emoji code completely at this point. It won't start working magically, there is no plugin to support it on ML at this point. Why keep broken code in the processing stream?

Enjoy this small, yet slightly obnoxious smiley...
