So as we're building a script, with the intention of running xenserver from a USB drive, and using the built in mdadm functionality. It would be pretty awesome to showcase this.

The benefits of mdadm and how, as a Software RAID combined with a great hypervisor make for a really powerful solution.

In the case we're building this it's a simple 4 disk Software RAID system. Purchasing a hardware raid controller is out the question. So mdadm is the only option.

Could include cloning utilities for backing up your "Boot USB", recovery instructions for if a drive dies.

        the whole nine yards.

Maybe slightly broader and include more about XS as just the MD setup might be too little for a talk. Maybe add best practice installs for XS including SD/USB install, software and hardware RAID with local storage, etc.

It's a good topic, showcase how easy XS can be, why it is powerful, what it adds that other solutions lack.

I like this idea. I setup MD RAID in my XenServer 6.2 system last year. It was an interesting experience.

                OR....

Doing just a talk on MD RAID with or without XenServer might make sense too. MD RAID is generic to all the Linux distros as well as XenServer and KVM. Might be able to cover a more generic approach to MD as well and just use XS as an example.
