Meet StarWind Virtual Storage Appliance on Linux

I need the version that doesn't require a hypervisor. We have 2 node with das and would love to eliminate the windows layer (and any other layers as much as possible).
If you put it on KVM you get what you need. That'll work.
I'll talk to the Maxmeister tomorrow about that though. Remind me if you can because I'm out early as it is Ciana's birthday.

Sitting with @stuka now.

This post is heading towards record love (upvotes). Apparently Starwind on Linux is a major win.
-
Has anyone deployed the KVM version?

I'm working on it but can't download it at the moment. Might tonight.

Anyone have any instructions/docs?
-
Remember we have a Ask Me Anything with Starwind tomorrow 10am - 12pm EST

@Stuka says installation guides should be right on the page.

What os (aka hypervisor) are we deploying on?
-
@FATeknollogee I just started my download. I doubt it'll be done today. Tho I do plan on writing up a procedure for importing the KVM version into XenServer7.1.
-
Or what is the "preferred" o/s to deploy on?

Or what is the "preferred" o/s to deploy on?
Hyper-V, ESX, or KVM all have native appliances. So one of those hypervisors.

We're talking KVM, which o/s "flavor" of KVM?

A vSphere guide is the only one I see on that page.

Uhm, KVM is a type-1 hypervisor. Pick any distribution you like, preferably one with KVM in the default repositories. Fedora Server or CentOS would be my first two choices.
-
Ubuntu also has it if you're not a CentOS / Fedora fan.
