I don't mind my own employees bitching about things or customers, but never online, at all. In fact I'm sure there's probably a clause in your contract/work agreement/whatever where you aren't allowed to do anything which may embarrass the company. We have that. I've fired people for doing exactly what you've done here. The main thing is: you're a low level employees, the fact you have a manager in your store says you're in no real position of administrative authority, which means the store will go on without you. Nobody wants to promote someone who talks crap about the company or customers, but especially the company, and especially in public one the Internet by name.

Umm nice try. Even NTG people have to pay for their tickets 😛

Well, I'm at least 10x as gorgeous as @scottalanmiller, I know, I've met him. Sure, I may be extremely, inhumanly hairy, overweight, smell bad, and speak unnecessarily loudly, but at least I...

      I withdraw my request.

And I'm not trying to be rude or make fun of you with any of what I've said, I know some people sometimes do that with you on here, but I'm not, I'm just being honest, and it may cause some existential angst, but that's life. I want to help you so you don't end up being one of those 40 year old jackasses who still works at Staples talking about how the store would shut down if he got hit by a bus. You don't want to be that guy.

That's the exact same reason I left that ISP job years ago, they wanted me to move from NYC to Dulles, Virgnia, but now they've moved some of their HQ back there, guess they got bored too.

With the state of search here, what I want to know is how the hell did you even dig up a post like that to link it?

      Good memory, is my guess.

Yes I have what is called photographic memory, but that's a misnomer.... probably closer to exceptional memory... but yes I did remember the exact post and where to find it, it only took a moment.

    • RE: Adobe showing no love for Linux any more!

@Dashrender Agreed, not only that, Adobe is a crappy company that makes even crappier, bloated, overpriced garbage software. They should've went bankrupt decades ago, but are spurred on by companies willing to pay $9 trillion for software that's got FOSS alternatives which create just as good art/html/video/whatever.

Hell, a year ago at a Best Buy I saw an Adobe Photoshop box for sale in their software section, it was from around 1997, and it was still selling for $999.99. Luckily though, it was Windows 3.11 compatible.

(this post made in jest, but I'm absolutely serious in my hatred for all things political)

Yeah, not our intent to draw connections to specific candidates. We'd like to think that Hippo, Zen Frog and Molly Mite are a cut well above the average politician. Each one does love their IT pros, too.

The mere fact they're not politicians I think makes that an automatic cut above.

    • RE: Medical Insurance in the US

@scottalanmiller Definitely cheaper outside the US. In the US health insurance for me alone was about $350 a month or something along those lines. In Russia full coverage private insurance costs me about $850 USD per family member for the entire year. And no, I'm not waiting in lines or sitting in front of death panels, or anything like that. Americans get screwed over because there's a sizable amount of the population who believes things like "it's expensive because it's so good" (it's not), "there's no such thing as a free lunch" (even if true, that doesn't mean stale bread lunch costs the same as a 5 star restaurant), "anything else is socialism/communism/fascism/cherubism/etc" (lol), etc.

The biggest joke is that Medicare can't even negotiate prices, that right there tells you from top to bottom the whole thing is broken, I don't see a need for discussion otherwise. I feel extremely badly for people who can't afford it. What's even crazier is that often I've tried to tell Europeans I know about how the American healthcare system works, and it usually comes down to:

Them "Well, what if you get cancer and can't afford treatment?"
      Me "You die"
      Them "I can't believe that."
Me "I hope you never have to find out."

It's difficult to me understand why some people in US don't want a public medical service, really difficult.

I have heard many stories of people having to wait a long time for procedures in other countries.

If you are lucky to have good insurance in the US, there is no waiting.

Perhaps in minor Surgery, if you have a real problem, like cancer, there will be no waiting, and of course It's Free

And that's what I mean when I said above that the dialogue really is trying to make people think that even if you were in a car accident, you'll be waiting forever. The irony is emergency rooms in the US take hours upon hours upon hours.

I don't know what planet you are on, but it is certainly not Earth. No wait times in the US? You are f'n crazy.

Hey, a lot of people just don't have experience with it, until it really impacts their lives, then they realise how messed up it is.

I mean that if you "want to get the clicking in your jaw" (as mentioned by another person here) looked at here, you can get it done pretty quickly. You don't have to wait 3,6,9 months because the government said so.

No, but you still will wait longer than you will in most other countries, I think.

Not only that but as I pointed out (poster is referencing what I said), the trade off for the supposed faster wait time for the clicking jaw is said to be bankrupt-level pricing for anything that would save your life. It's a non-sequitur they use to beat the hell out of people.

    • RE: MySQL is System Intensive...

What are you my.cnf settings? If you're giving too much space for indices in memory, caching, etc that could definitely be the problem. Some of the example my.cnf files are for MySQL-only servers, and you may have used one of those so MySQL is working as if it's the only thing, in other words.

Oh yeah and you have a boat load of threads, so again, we're back to my.cnf

Edit: @scottalanmiller mentioned that one already, he always beats me to stuff.
