I'm having an issue where I just noticed that Pertino is offline on every single one of my CloudatCost servers. I have two Ubuntu Server boxes and one Windows Server 2008 R2 box on CloudatCost but Pertino just seems to have gone offline on all of them. I'm SSH'ed into one of my Linux servers and the Pertino interface doesn't even exist anymore!
Any ideas? I find it weird that multiple OSes just all suddenly had Pertino drop like that...
So I arrived in Texas by plane on November 6, 2013. After 447 days of being in Texas, today I officially leave. I am moving back to New York and to my hometown area. No, I am not moving back in with my family. As it stands, I'm likely going to go back to work at Staples as I re-evaluate my career and life. I was happier at that job than any other job, and although it's far from glamorous, it's a good way to get myself restabilized. Texas has been a rollercoaster unlike anything I could have imagined, for many reasons that I won't get into.
At the moment, I'm looking at opportunities, including waiting on a call back from StorageCraft. We'll see what happens. However, if that doesn't work out, I will be most likely going back to Staples. I do have another opportunity at a Cisco-based shop (fastest growing company in NYS) called Shoregroup where a friend of mine works. It's about the same pay as Staples and I've never enjoyed Cisco work either time I've studied it. I figure I'll go back to Staples and then fall back on Shoregroup if I just can't do it.
Texas has been fun to a degree, and I'm going to miss hanging with @PSX_Defector and @NetworkNerd. Spiceworld is gonna be a bigger hassle now, as I'll have to fly again to attend the event, but oh well. I've learned a lot about myself and life in general the past 15 months, and I look forward to a new chapter in my life back in New York. Thanks to all you Fruit Tarts who have helped me along the way and continue to do so!

Today was a good day. I was able to stay up for 64 straight hours before I went to bed, still wired before I fell asleep, and today I put an engagement ring on layaway! :d

I am a fan of imaging - but for just myself (my household) it's not all ways the easiest thing to accomplish.
Years ago mind you,.. but I could build and image system and drop it on a single CD,.. then a DVD,.. now not so much... And this has been more years ago still,.. I built a auto install CD using GHOST.
Can I still manage to image one of my systems if I wanted to? Yes, I have managed to accumulate just a few TB of disk space.. But there comes a time of the hassle... and the time... which mind you I have plenty of in the evenings...
It would be rather nice to have a deployment server here at home... but I just don't see the need...
Home users using a standard image isn't easy. I usually just take the computer and reload a generic Windows install and go from there.
So I haven't been very active the past few days on MangoLassi or anywhere to be honest. Anyways, I arrived in NY two weeks ago today, although, truth be told, I think I was somewhere in Virginia at this time two weeks ago...anyways!
Since I've been back, I've stayed at a crappy motel, moved on to a nicer hotel that was within a mile walking distance of my house (except during the winter, because, snow and I have to cut through a field), to now I'm crashing on a friend's couch until Tuesday when I'll be moving in with a different friend to rent out his back room. For those wondering why I'm not living home again, I will not get into that on a public forum. If you really want to know, you're welcome to PM me here or on Facebook if you're friends with me.
I started my job at Staples again yesterday, 02/12/2015. Other than the assistant manager over the tech department openly declaring war on me and telling me he was going to make it as hard for me as he possibly could, it was a fantastic day. Oh, and the fact my feet were KILLING ME! Standing like this is going to take some getting used to again...
Also, another place is currently running my background check. The name of the company is Shoregroup, and they are a MSP that do nothing but Cisco. They have somewhere around 500 employees, and are one of the fastest growing companies in all of New York State. The friend I am currently staying with is helping expedite the process of getting me hired. I'll start at $10/hour as a temp for about six months, and if it works out, I get brought on as an employee and go up to $15/hour, which is awesome. Also, they will pay for your Cisco certs, as many times as you want. I have been told that the first couple tries they'll give you vouchers, and after that, they reimburse you, pass or fail.
This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training and get some Cisco certs under my belt. Although it isn't how I envisioned my career heading, this could be an excellent place to make a career, and once you reach a certain level technically (I believe CCNA and two CCNPs or something like that), you have the option to work from home.
My website is still down as I haven't found anywhere to hook up my server as of yet...I'm working on that...I'm also worried about my computer losing trust to the domain...my DC hasn't been powered on since 01/27/2015, and it has Pertino, so I don't have to be on the same LAN to reconnect. However, as of yet (knock on wood), I can still sign into my laptop with cached credentials...
I know this is a technical and professional forum, but it's also small enough we all pretty much know each other to a certain degree. I've got a lot of **** going on in my life right now but I'm dealing with it. Once I have a desk job again, hopefully I'll be able to post some more but combined with I don't have a key to the apartment I'm staying in currently and no public wifi seems to want to work with my laptop (B&N, Dunkin' Donuts or Staples), getting internet on the go on anything but my phone is spotty at best...

Like what? Can you give an example of how it might be inconsistent? Do you mean different driver versions? I find it unlikely that two different users running slightly different drivers will have any impact at all. I just haven't experienced those kinds of support calls.
I think you're over-egging this consistency argument. I'm not against clean installs / imaging at all. I just don't think it really makes any difference either way.
HP, Dell, etc all change their images based on sponsors. Granted, Dell has been in bed with McAfee for decades, (excuse me, Intel Security) but many companies load different AVs, different packaged solutions, etc, based on who's paying them at the time. And ordering the exact same computer two months apart can yield very different pre-loaded images. Not so much in terms of driver versions, but how will the pre-installed software, or what's left of it after it's uninstalled, affect what you install? Will it screw everything up on one but not another? Probably unlikely, but it's possible. At that point, how much time do you spend troubleshooting each "snowflake"?
just setup rsync between my local server and my C@C server to keep them in sync so I have backups with Unitrends from the local server while working between tickets... 
This thread went on for 3.5 more pages?! Dang! I just called the user and told them it wasn't recoverable. It wasn't worth the amount of time it was going to take me to do it. I have too much other $4!+ to do...

The biggest thing that I forgot in my OP was that they want to setup a software that uses a server-client model, but I don't see why we couldn't do that on a hosted platform.

I'm starting to realize that most IT pros are ignorant, and somehow just got into the field. I also think this might be why I have trouble getting some job offers, because they don't want to hire someone smarter than them.. Not that I'm all that smart.
I've struggled at many a job because of that...I don't do well with limiting the scope of my vision. That is one way that NTG was both good and bad for me. At NTG, if it was on the network, we handled it. The job after that, I was a glorified secretary. Have an issue with this product? Call the vendor. That product? Call the vendor? Need something on their phone system tweaked? Schedule a tech from another vendor. We didn't actually get to work on much directly. Going from the one extreme to another was a HUGE system shock and ultimately why it didn't work out there.
NTG spoiled me in the "you see an issue, fix it" style of work. Granted, if there was something to RMA, etc, we'd reach out to the manufacturer. Or if it was a TWC issue, we'd work with them. But the whole thing about just calling all these different vendors and techs, made me realize how unique NTG is in their "one-stop shop" mentality. Not how most businesses handle things. I don't think most businesses have enough confidence in their techs to do that.
