Yeah, it is like the cheap Best Buy. I hate both.

Let's just sum it up - its genius (That's 70s Show - and I'm sure the new bedroom)
Actually it's the old bedroom. It's the bedroom that we used from 2010 - 2013. Just haven't been in it in three years.
I will be doing the same thing soon - switching rooms around. The worst part will be figuring out cable (which I don't use) and the best place for the WiFi extender
We wired the house so we have six Ethernet jacks in the new bedroom (only four in the old one.) No need for cable or wifi, it's all GigE Ethernet to every room in the house.
Oh come on - jealous! That's just not fair...
We have a full cabling plant in a customer built back closet that feed the whole house via the attic. The attic has cabling up on J hooks all over. It's very organized.
Nice!
That is not "neat"! My OCD wants to come over and organize it. Droopy cables suck.

Whoa, how old is Ellen if PSX was that young?
I think this is a younger PSX sent to the future from the past for our entertainment.
Who/what is PSX...?
What? You don't know? shame....

We don't restrict the "personal" devices in any way, it's a user device, the user manages it.
MDM my friend. MDM.

@DustinB3403 context?
User, with company provided cell phone is complaining that there is an APP that is causing pop-ups.
Firstly, we only provide the line of service and hardware, secondly, delete the app. . .
Like wtf
Nope, no need for MDM. They just buy the phones for them, they don't manage them. Not IT's issue to maintain the device. Hopefully that is documented when they get the phone.
Sitting at the Honda dealer for maintenance, killing time, bored
The wheels are turning to agree that it is a better practice, but slowly.

@JaredBusch said in DHCP the servers:
Personally, I am in the camp of static the hypervisors, DC, routers, and switches.
Yes, I agree on all those.
I am just used to statically assigning everything. This way we can set blocks of IP's aside for an application lets say, that you make block of .100-.150 for that one application and nothing can touch that range. but if you DHCP everything you kinda loose that.
Short of blocking that range, then static those.

So this has been a hot topic here.
They static the DC's, but every member server and workstation is dynamic. Servers they use a DHCP reservation.
To me, what is the point of using DHCP for servers if you are going to use reservations? I understand that DHCP and DNS were designed to work nicely with each other and it makes for a common place to look for a server.
But to me it is just still too silly. I am in the Static servers and network, and leave them out of the DHCP range. Ideally, on different networks, but some SMB's it is a battle to have L3 vlans.
Technically it is not 100% wrong, using DHCP and DNS for what it was designed for.
So we have two Sr. Systems Admins that are trained differently.
So what does everyone else think? Who is the more crazy one?

Just thinking on how the documentation here at Mangolassi.it is better than XenServer's official documentation, and heading to lunch.
There is Xen here at my new job. It looks simple. I havent spent much time in it and already feel comfortable.
What are they using to manage it?
XenCenter
Get XenOrchestra. Free and So much better.
They say this and dont like it, they want all the features. https://xen-orchestra.com/#!/pricing
That's XOA pricing, the appliance, we are talking about XO. All the features of the appliance, 100% free.
I didnt tell them to pull up the site. They did while I was standing there telling them it was free.
I believe they just finished a SAM audit and had to buy a crap load of stuff. They are now MSDN and Partner licensed.
Since I am new to Xen I am clueless on the difference.XO is open source.... no licensing involved. Support contract if you want to pay for it, but no licensing. Audit's don't come into play.
I am aware that it doesn't involve possible audits.
I was referring to the Microsoft SAM audit, not Xen Audit. They are just generally cautious right now.

Wow, talk about inefficient. Got on the phone with someone and they can not even look at my address to see if there is a forward set. I have to wait the 2-3 business days for the local post office to look at the issue.
@Texkonc said in Where is my mail? Who the hell knows....:
The USPS apparently said I don't live here anymore. Already submitted a passive aggressive claim asking who authorized the forward.
I thought I was getting lonely with no snail mail.USPS, thanks for telling people I do not exist. Plus their phone queue is over an hour wait.
