    • RE: MSSQL tempdb - your location

I have seen bad queries fill the temp db, and the system I inherited was on the system drive. That was a prod and a fun 30 minutes.
DBA couldnt believe it and we carved a special drive for tempdb, as he said the same thing. Not on system drive or db drive.

Roomie just got home. Brought champagne. So we are drinking champagne in pajamas because that is how we roll around here.

What? I could be doing the same, but I lack PJ's and Champagne.

Keeping those out of public space, but I do have some. SAM can attest to hearing them.

It was nice to know that SAM had his share of jobs that help he felt less than adequate at, that truly makes him human.

Out of that list I look to only need 4 of them since I have SP1. Clearing it with the client for reboots.

@texkonc Seize the FSMo Roles (If any) from the old AD DCs and then as @JaredBusch cleanup AD.

Roles were cleanly moved before shutdown. No seizing necessary.

In the hotel now. It's very nice.

Well - that is good to hear. Did you leave some fans running on the pipes? Maybe turn the main off just in case they were to burst you don't come back to a flood?

Left the roomie there and turned the heat up with the cupboards open. But the furnace can't get the house over 62.

More insulation in attic or replace it since it is probably over 30 years old. They can spray in the walls too, just makes a small hole and they blow it in. Keep it cooler in the Summer and warmer in the winter. Probably cheaper than a new AC/Furnace.

    • RE: De-crypt EFS Files

EFS wasn't setup with GPO for the whole domain, it was done by user alone. Single machine.
Cant export the private key.....This is in the default domain policy. No other machine have encrpyted files, this is just there for recovery.
I am logged into the old DC as the said user in the screenshot and trying to decrypt data the user put on a shared drive that it was copied off of, still get access denied.
