    • If I was a batch scripter, I'd starve...

I need a batch script, but my batch scripting skills are subpar. I need an autorun script that will simply launch a powershell file when a USB is plugged in. I know that the main part of Windows 10 has disabled autorun, but have also seen a couple of sticks autorun sometimes.

We're just running some pen tests on our users to see what kind of baseline that we get. The ps1 file is going to pull the username and computer name and email that to me whenever the USB is plugged in. Nothing malicious. Anybody have any batch scripting skills?

Have you considered running it in a Docker container? That might help negate some of your problems.

They have a docker container for it? That'd solve a lot of problems, assuming it works (don't get me started on the non-working instructions for most docker containers.)

If you are using Task Scheduler, then you call powershell.exe and run the ps1 script as an option of the command. Just make sure you run it as an administrator.

I always love that you can get a roll as a side at Panera. For us carb lovers.

Also sad that I have posted enough pictures that you all know this.

So far, your favorite is the chicken noodle soup pasta bowl at Panera.

Thanks for reporting back. Glad it worked without too much trouble. So you went from a DS series to a DX series and it was pretty much plug and play?

Negative. We went from one DS to another DS. The DX is an expansion unit that attaches to the DS through an esata cable. Otherwise, it was pretty much plug and play.

    • Passwords Last Changed

So here is something that I just whipped up real quick one liner.

      get-aduser -Filter * -Properties * | Select CN,PasswordLastSet,EmailAddress | sort PasswordLastSet | export-csv \\your_desired_location\passwords_unchanged.csv

First part grabs all of your users in your AD and all of their properties. Its piped over and only pulls out the users name, their email address, and the last time they changed their password. The next pipe sorts the list based from oldest to newest of the passwords. With that list sorted, it is then piped to a csv spreadsheet to be done with what you will.

I guess the real question is... why did you tighten security to a point that you are unhappy with the results? It's not "security" to send you all these useless emails. So just undo that requirement.

That's probably going to be the plan. Boss tightened up security. I'll investigate to see about turning that one off.

    • Migrate database from Hyper-V to VMware

We are planning on upgrading our ERP environment (which is separate from our house environment). All of the servers are being built new 2016 and the ERP vendor is going to install their software. We are going from Hyper-V 2012 to VMware vSphere 6.5U2 because that is what the ERP vendor supports. We have and use Veeam B&R 9.5 for our backups across both environments.

Question is, could I replicate the data from the database from Hyper-V to vSphere through Veeam? Is there another, better option?

Tomorrow, mow lawn, easter egg hunt at church, then easter egg hunt with some family up in Terrell. Don't know what the kids are doing though (j/k). Eating plenty of ham (don't know how this is starting to become a tradition).

Sunday? Church. Eat some more ham. Maybe nap. Church. Dinner. Sleep.
