I'm hoping to talk the wife into playing some Blue Toad tonight. Two episodes left to go.
Is it just me, or does that sound like some weird....intimate game...

Spaghetti for lunch I see
Yeah but because it isn't labeled I couldn't tell you where the noodles go
I know that feeling...cable tracers outside of working hours...
I work on the weekends all the time only getting paid for 40 hours. I get my evaluation done and my average is a 4 out of 5 (basically the highest they will ever give) except they say I took 6 sick days--5 of which were cardiologist visits for genetic testing and I'm "not reliable enough". The only day I legitimately had a non-scheduled day off was because the office policy is to not come in sick.
I'm like Wat.
You'd think they would be understanding considering all I do for this company. Smh. It makes me not want to go above and beyond. I get no credit for anything I do only attitude. Then I get annoyed that nothing is up to my standards. Maybe my expectations are too high. Idk.
wow...that's bad dude...that's worse than my last job, and I left that because of it...if they don't even recognise your efforts, then leave while you still can!

I've inherited a lot... off the top of my head, here we have:
10-12 48 port switches, easily as many patch panels if not more...split between 2 main areas, with 2 cabs in each...and spaghetti doesn't come close...
Plus the cables have then been zip-tied together to within an inch of their life, with no wiggle room, and plenty of pinch points...
Cables punched into the wrong slots on some patch panels (is it that hard to follow the colours?!)...I have a fun weekend ahead of me at some point I feel...

ROFL. Your users start tomorrow? At my last job, they started two weeks ago.
Well, technically they started Monday, but they've been on induction this week...
in the middle of moving a load of desks round - the typical, "oh, we have 6 new starters and need their desks ready for tomorrow" type situation - and obviously only data cables for 4 pc's...did someone say future proofing? So I'm about to start my hunt for a small switch I can utilise for now...

45C right now. Glad I'm not working outside.
Where the hell do you work? The sun?!
Near this city:
Hah fair enough! My sister has recently moved near to Perth - she got married at the start of January to an Aussie! Wellington Mill (?) I think?

It honestly feels really weird that going to the CIO would even be in question at that point. Would the CIO really want shielding like that in the organization? Hopefully not, hopefully he trusting everyone to report up when they see something.
I assume the CIO employed the IT Director? That can make it tricky, because it can sound like you're implying that he was an idiot for recruiting an idiot. You need to tread carefully here.
Not really? You employ someone based on what their credentials etc are...the whole point of a probation period is to check if they are actually fit for the job? And in this case it sounds like this guy really isn't fit for the job...
They go of what he said. He told us he was very strict with security and giving rights. The CIO has the ultimate say but we are part of the process of hiring our boss was well.
Yeah that's what I was meaning - I included that in Credentials, sorry for not clarifying more
And yeah, Like SAM said, he lied to you in the interview, and has now undermined any existing security policies...surely this in itself is enough to say bye bye to him?
site homepage still down for me...and even less graphically friendly than previous... Looks like times new roman...

That's what it was already doing BEFORE the update....
So the update wasn't for security at all and it's openly a scam? What extra security are they getting by bricking phones?
I mean, okay, a bricked phone IS more secure, obviously....
was gonna say... but yeah, that's what Jess says in the article I posted, as soon as a new home button is attached, it cancels apple pay and apple touch features...

Now they have to redesign that to not brick it... but
hopefullyjust disable the print reader instead.Arguably... shouldn't they have simply disabled the print reader to start with?
What about those of us who don't (won't) actually even use that feature?
That's what it was already doing BEFORE the update....

Of course those engineers didn't think that replacing the button would be a common thing needed to be done when the glass was replaced, so they just went the possible easy way - brick the phone.
That seems like an awful lot of assumption to assume Apple didn't think through. It's pretty common knowledge, I think, that those buttons get replaced a lot. Everyone I talk to seems to have had them replaced (if their phones got repaired.)
Yeah, I'm erring on the side of "they knew what they were doing" when they did it...I severely disagree with many of apple's policies/tactics to try and get more sales, and fully believe this was intentional...means apple make money as they charge 3x the price for an "official" repair than a small business does...another reason I'll never buy/own an apple product...
http://ifixit.org/blog/7900/repair-error-53/
Interesting article from someone who runs a repair business...
But yeah, another line to add to the "reasons I hate Apple" list, it's quite big nowadays...and yes, I'm fairly sure this is illegal in the UK too...
