@MattSpeller having worked on Wall St, I can't tell you how much of the opposite I have witnessed.... conference calls being done from the bathroom. You walk into the bathroom and one time out of twenty there is someone actively using the facilities while on a call.

      Time is money!

Just eaten my lunch...at 9:15 we had a director coming saying we needed 9 peoples desks moving round/people moved etc by the morning...like, If you'd have told us yesterday, that would have been fine, or If he'd told me at 7:45 when I arrived I could have got most of it done before they were even in the office lol...but I got it finished at half 12 anyways...

They are, and we are afraid of them, too.

I've been to the UK at times (when Bush was in office) that people actually avoided me. Someone finally told me that they were afraid of US agencies making people "disappear", the degree of FBI and CIA "terrorism" outside of the US was that strong that in the UK people actually thought MI5/6 were abducting and killing people on behalf of US agencies... just for having spoken to Americans!!

Strict protocol will have to be adhered to, in order to perform it, but if it can help save Thousands of lives, is it not worth it?

Absolutely not. There are so many problems with this...

      • Strict protocol was skipped to get to this point, that's out of the question.
      • FBI does not follow protocol at all, you can't expect this from that organization.
      • FBI has no track record of saving lives, the idea that there are lives to save is purely made up.
      • FBI doing things like this is used to empower terrible things like terrorist groups. You see savings lives, I see killing people.
      • Any thing like this can never be done for the purpose of safety, that's a myth. What it is is an attempt to subvert the legal process and cripple the people's power, to build a state where people are not free.

Fair enough, I just assumed they were like the cousins of our security guys at Mi5/Mi6...?

TL/DR The FBI is requesting a dangerous backdoor in the iPhone.

But not so they can remote into billy bob's phone, it's so they can help in the investigation they're looking into etc of the murders? Strict protocol will have to be adhered to, in order to perform it, but if it can help save Thousands of lives, is it not worth it?

Obviously It would be hell if it were widespread...but in this individual case (A mass murdered that killed innocent children before being gunned down) is it not worth allowing access to potentially find the sites he got help from/acquaintances that might be planning similar attacks?

I've never had an interview where they gave me lunch.

Been a long time since I had one when they didn't. I've had them where we go to a restaurant. Some where a catering crew come in for it. Some they eat in the offices. All kinds of things.

Facebook: Eat on campus to show the campus stuff
Amazon: Walk to a restaurant in the neighbourhood
      Change: Pizza at a house
BW: Catered lunch from a personal chef

Some that I remember. I know one in Cleveland the whole team went to a lunch at a restaurant and did something like pizza. Nothing fancy but a good chance for everyone to talk.

      SAM casually name dropping.....

OT: Just sorted 3 different printer tickets - one person's PC had changed the port from the IP to WSD...so switched it back and thats sorted...one department have just got a new Printer, so installed that (they replaced a network one with the "new model"...that DOESN'T have a network port, so I installed via USB cable and shared over the network...) and one just being a printer...

Print server? if not avoid at all costs

What..? We have a print server yes, but I don't get the question here...

I have hundreds of unique passwords for all the various systems and sites and services I use. There is zero chance that I can remember all of those passwords.

Yeah, I'm lucky in that I only have about 20 or so passwords to remember 😛

Doing planning for a cabinet clean up/restructure one weekend coming up, just got networks guy to give me a list of the 4 switches in the cab I'm going to start with, so making a list of ports, VLAN, connection state and speed, so we can get a config done that'll work with the new structure I'm doing - Patch, Switch, Patch, Switch etc...it's currently switch, switch switch, patch, patch, patch, patch, switch, patch...

So getting the list of switch ports sorted, then got the job of tracing patch cables...can't wait...
