Are you on a Windows machine doing this?
I just tried from my Windows 10 machine to linux webserver telnet hostname 80 to a computer i know has a web server running. No response, connection timed out. -

@dustinb3403 Is there any services running? Without a running webserver or whatever service your want, youll get nothing with
lsof -i, or
ss -atun -

@bigbear Yes or Alt + f2, f3, all the way to f8 I think should also switch to different console. One of them should be a # prompt

@bigbear You can hit alt+arrow key right to get to a root prompt with the installer? Or get to a root prompt at all?
