    • where to find free hyper-v product key

Can you host a Server 2008 R2 VM on Hyper-v 2012 R2 for free? Where do you get the product key to activate server 2012 R2 or will the 2008 R2 key work?

    • RE: add Google Analytics to Wordpress?

From what I read, Google says you have to add code to every page. It's advised that you don't edit your theme code.

I know I'm not well versed in this area, and others are, so I thought I would just ask someone that has done it.

    • add Google Analytics to Wordpress?

What's the best way to add google analytics to Wordpress? I read an article about creating your own plug in, but that seemed a little complicated for something that I imagine many people are doing.

Maybe I should put ads on the page. That seems to drive people away... Seriously, Total Unique Visitors Last 24 Hours: 2,763 If it was an attack, it would seem to be distributed.

Are you still getting constant hits on the admin page?

I renamed the admin page with the plug in. I'm still getting hammered, but I don't understand how. The bandwidth hasn't gone down since I went to CloudFlare or renamed the admin page. What should I look at next?

So add the certificate services roll as if there was nothing there before?

    • AD certs

I have a client that I believe was trying to push a certificate out to all the computers on his domain. He thinks he revoked the old certificate before the new one was created. AD got pretty messed up. Two of the domain controllers wouldn't run their services anymore and were effectively dead, so we seized the FSMO roles on the DC that seemed to be working. The other remaining DC is having some issues, but DNS is straightened out and AD replication is working now.

I went in to group policy to find the Cert policy and I was expecting to see the certificate to see if it was valid and it didn't show up. I'm not sure where to look now.

I'm getting the error: Event ID 20
The currently selected KDC certificate was once valid, but now is invalid and no suitable replacement was found. Smartcard logon may not function correctly if this problem is not remedied. Have the system administrator check on the state of the domain's public key infrastructure. The chain status is in the error data.

It looks like this article has the fix:
      https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc733985(v=ws.10).aspx

The part I'm not sure about is what to do about the group policy. Has any one done this before?

My other thought was to boot the DCs to Directory Service Restore mode and restore the system state from backups.

So the SBS is the one and only AD in this case?

Sorry, I think we're interpreting the word cluster differently here. When I read that I though you were talking about Microsoft Cluster Server - which is a different technology than multiple domain controllers. He had three domain controllers.

In that case, how do you recover from something like this? Since the FSMO roles are on a 2003 server, do you start running through the various esentutl.exe commands?

You can't restore a DC that is part of a cluster, you need to rebuild.

It's not part of a cluster. Physical Server 2003 SBS server that he was trying to decommission. The other servers were Server 2012 R2.

    • AD CS hosed - anyone have any experience?

I have a client that was trying to push a new server cert out to his Domain through AD. It hosed the domain controller he was working on so bad, it won't boot normally. We restored it from before the issue happened, and it still won't start many services. I think booting in to AD restore mode is about it. We spun up the services that the domain controller was providing on another server and figured we would have to follow the process for removing an orphaned domain controller.

Today he rebooted the SBS 2003 server that holds the FSMO roles and it won't run most network services because it seems to have the bad cert. He can't even open an MMC console on the box to open certificate services.

Has anyone dealt with something like this?

There are also plenty of FREE plugins that do this with one click.

      https://wordpress.org/plugins/rename-wp-login/

      https://wordpress.org/plugins/protect-wp-admin/

Wordfence also lets you do this and restrict IPs to the admin page.

@IRJ Thanks for the tip on renaming the wp-login. I just added that.
