    • RE: analog video stream

@Dashrender said in analog video stream:

LOL - I love the instant jump to they didn't plan, so they must just be out to screw the company.
I'm sure there wasn't any malice here, but there definitely wasn't any planning either - and no, one does not equal the other, if you were thinking that way.

I just found out they didn't order the TVs yet. They thought they had been ordered but the donor didn't order them yet.

Given that, how do I figure out which model of TV has a web browser will work with which camera?

    • RE: analog video stream

I just found that the Panasonic HC-X920 has HDMI output and a 12x optical zoom. Couple that with a HDMI splitter and two extenders for a simple solution.

Even with my "smart TV" in order to connect to a stream, I have to turn it on, press a button on the remote, go through some menus, etc. I don't want something that needs an instruction sheet taped to it.

If I get some time I may play around with the VLC or OBS to see how it works.

@PSX_Defector yes, that would be cool if they intended to record. Since it uses HDMI inputs, I think if I get a camera with an HDMI output, I'll be headed in the right direction.

    • RE: ever see a ping like this?

hmmm... That network has 3 other printers of that same model and none of them act like that, so maybe there is something flaky going on in the hardware of that particular one.

It's a Zebra GK420d label printer. I can ping any other device on the LAN with pings <1ms.

    • RE: analog video stream

      I think @JaredBusch is right.

      I just found this:
Bosch DINION AN 5000 1/3" CCD 960H True D/N WDR Camera Kit with 5-50 mm Lens
      https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1140425-REG/bosch_f_01u_295_530_dinion_an_5000_1_3.html
Add to that a $120 splitter and some coax cable and I can go straight in to the back of the TV via the composite RCA input.

I'm sure for a little more I could find one with a HDMI output and do just what Jared said.

If they ever want to go digital, a $50 capture card in the PC will accept the composite video.

    • RE: Moving to Domain from Workgroup. How to be prepared ?

You didn't mention the client OS, except for that some have home versions. Depending on what OS that is, there are ways to move their profile from local to domain. There is also the Microsoft easy transfer wizard that will let you back up and copy profiles from one account to another. This does more than a simple copy of the my documents folder, etc, because it also backs up some of the registry keys that hold application settings.

So after a few more hours working with OBS, I discovered that you can output to a second screen. You have to right click on the source window, and choose "Full Screen Projector Preview" and then select the right output depending on your system such as "Display 1"

I also discovered that to get a full screen output of a IP cam (in my case an old Foscam) you have to find the right URL from the manufacture. In my case it ended up being:
      http://username:[email protected]/videostream.cgi?&resolution=32&rate=0

even though the documentation from Foscam said to use:
      http://192.168.0.37/videostream.cgi?user=username&pwd=password&resolution=32&rate=0

    • Vinyl printer for large graphics and signs?

Does anyone have any experience with vinyl printers? I have a company that would like to be able to do their own banners and signs for vehicles. They figure they have enough volume to be able to justify in the neighborhood of $15,000 on something like this.

    • RE: analog video stream

When I laid out the options, they started to have second thoughts about being able to record, create streams, etc. Basically I told them that if they weren't sure which way they were going to go to run all the cables back to the sound booth so that for today we could put in a simple HDMI splitter , but tomorrow we could feed the camera(s) in to a capture card on the computer along with an output from the sound board and take it from there. I tested OBS and I was able to use a feed from a webcam, a feed from a firewire (IEEE 1394) camera, an IP camera feed, and display the desktop. If they get a HDMI camera today and then upgrade to IP cameras tomorrow, they HDMI camera can be used to get another angle.

@DustinB3403 They are weighing out the options. I suspect they will go with a single HDMI camera and splitter for today, but I don't know. If they go the computer route, they will still need the splitter to send the signal to the TVs, so nothing is wasted.

    • RE: Overheating NICs in SuperMicro on FreeBSD

It was amazing that Scott found it so fast. I was on the Windows side of things. Inside Windows they were using the iSCSI initiator to connect to the FreeNAS. All the sudden Windows would just log a ton of iSCSI events and go down.

I looked up the events and most people resolved them by putting the iSCSI traffic on a separate NIC. This happened two days in a row at about the same time each day. I was looking at snapshot, backup, etc times when Scott found it in the FreeNAS logs.

After that are the rooms showing up as resources in the office 365 portal, or are they listed under standard users?

If you know how to connect to your office 365 environment with powershell, then the command you need is:

Set-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity conf-room:\calendar -User default -AccessRights reviewer

    • Verizon blocking port 465 to godaddy?

I have a client that is using godaddy email for their domain. A couple weeks ago, all the office computers lost the ability to send email. They are using Outlook 2013/2016 They tried calling Verizon and GoDaddy. Support on each side basically did all the usual setting changes:
      port 465 SSL
      port 587 TLS
And then pointed the finger at the other end.

We tried disabling the firewall and AV on the client, and lowering the firewall settings on the Verizon router.

One of the computers is a laptop and the owner can take it home (She has Verizon FIOS at home as well.) and it works there. She comes in to the office and it doesn't work.

I tried to use putty to telnet to smtpout.secureserver.net port 465 and got the error: Network error: Software caused the connection abort
I then tried it on my system since I had never tried to telnet to 465 before and got the same error, so that test didn't tell me anything.

      I can ping smtpout.secureserver.net

Can anyone suggest a test that I can do to narrow down where 465 is being blocked?

    • Minecraft server for Xbox?

My boys are getting Minecraft for Christmas. The oldest is 8 so from what little reading I have done (I'm not at all a gamer) I found that I might want to set them up on their own MineCraft server. I found a couple guides on here, but the referenced PE, and my boys will be playing on Xbox. Do they work together? Do I even need to build them their own server? Is there a better way to keep them safe?

I'm not worried about it. It's probably going to cost them much more than they originally thought, and no matter who the client is, that usually means it's going to take more time.
