When I attempt to use the export function it says since its in maintenance mode it won't export.

Possibly ok, but I need that VM, if there is a way I can export it first, then nuking that machine isn't a problem.

Absolutely correct. I entered the same command twice by accident (sorry had a hyper-active finger) and I was able to successfully remove one of the SR's, the 2nd one in question, was a no go.

I would actually prefer to run XenServer from a USB (if there is a guide please point me to it graciously). I used SAM's guide for the install originally and I recall since I'm getting my feet wet, to not use the USB initially. I have experience with Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi both being ran from USB successfully. I realize that moving to XenServer USB might be a tad bit harder.

I did follow the guide, took a second to get use to the command structure but I did get it wasn't as bad as I thought. However it allowed me to remove one of the SR's, it didn't allow me to remove the second one. I accidentally pushed a command before double checking. I want to say it was added to the root.

Ok so I was originally trying to add storage to the SR but that didn't work out as planned.

I have nothing, because my management doesn't procure laptops properly always. When I am able to get licenses things are golden, when I am asked to get things out the blue with no prep time we use whatever software the laptop comes with.

QB over straight VPN doesn't perform well. You'll want a remote viewer system to make it comfortable to use.

Let's be honest here, Quickbooks doesn't perform well ever. Over a VPN, just forgetaboutit. How and what they actually do with company files is nothing short of crazy (you'd be transferring the entire company file over the VPN multiple times while opening/working/closing the thing.)

I've tried every form of VPN known to man and told Quickbooks support it doesn't make sense the way they built the app for it to be so critical and yet be so frail.

I would not connect to the DB via a VPN, I have seen to many VPN connects fluctuate and destroy data. A better solution would be to keep it in house by using a Terminal Server and publishing it. That way, should he be disconnected, it doesn't thrash the DB.

Honestly that was my premise on moving to Enterprise 2015, but considering online seems to be better suited for the world now since it integrates better with apps, I'm considering the move.

You can't VPN with Quickbooks it doesn't work like that.

I have a newly appointed CFO that will need to use Quickbooks from another state. I know we can utilize Team Viewer for the remote access into a computer located on the network with the host pc. However, I'm not sure it's legal to even virtualize a Windows 7 desktop, as a vm into XenServer. I do have Volume Licenses for Windows 7 but I have never used them in this manner. I also do have Windows Server 2012 Data Center licenses but I'm in the middle of a VMware to XenServer migration and I only have 1 real server. I have made a desktop powerful enough

What would be the smart way to allow that person remote access since they won't have a desktop in-house?

She has a new laptop already and while I could install Quickbooks Enterprise 2015 locally on the laptop, it almost makes no point.

Well since this will be my first venture into using a video server, not sure how much system to give something like that.

I must admit Quip is looking good these days. It's deceptively simple and flexible.

So far looks decent for those needing all those features!

Last but not least, getting sorda into VDI but the baby stuff, using Windows Multipoint Server.

My VMWare ESXi is live its 5.5. My XenServer is live its 7.0 But there are 0 of the machines from my VMWare coming over for longer term purposes. They are just windows 2008 servers and being decommissioned. I technically only have one server that I care about and thats my security system / access badge server but since my vendor finally (after a lonnnnnng call) gave me the software, I can install it , and install my backups to get my system going on my new hypervisor.

My new environment is going to be Windows 2012 R2 Data Center but push comes to shove I can buy an additional license because this existing server is basically End of Warranty. I'll keep adding parts as necessary but its there basically to be backup should I need one and also a test server. I plan on buying either a used server (thanks Slava) or getting a new server. I'm leaning toward used.

Thanks everybody for responding I have my temporary host up and running however I had some questions still because I just had to use 1 SSD (sorry just used what I could to get her up and running). From what SAM's guide says, I don't need to worry about a USB drive for the hypervisor since it supports native software RAID. If so, whats the issue with doing that vs going with the usb? Is it that much harrder to install it to usb?
