RE: XenServer passing 9-Pin serial to specific VM
I actually found my original notes on the project at the time. This was the site I referenced and amazingly it is still posted!:

My difference was I used a real digi 8 port Terminal adapter but it supported the real port divers -

RE: Open Broadcaster Software and Skype for Business
I'll ping my SfB experts here and see what if anything they come back with. I am interested in this as well as we are a SfB partner and would be an interesting new direction to go

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
so on top of my Windstream H-E Double Hockey Sticks, we lost 1 phase of our building power at 1:30 AM. UPS kicked in but that gave us ony 1/2 hour uptime and of course we don't have a standby generator. Been here all night re-routing power on extension cables to get the office back up and running on the remaining phases. Power company has no idea how we blew the phase out. On the plus side, the move to a colocation facility just got accelerated!

RE: ForeFront UAG trunks stopped working
We are loking at replacing our ForeFron UAG for Skype for Business reverse Proxy with Kemp Load balancers; they provide a Sharepoint config guide:
https://support.kemptechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/203123539-SharePointThey offer a free Load Balancer VM if you dont' need too much bandwidth:
http://freeloadbalancer.com/features/I unfortunately am not part of the project team designing and implementing the Kemp solution so I can't tell you much about its capabilities YET

RE: Former Verizon-Now Frontier Communication....why is the review so bad?
Agree with @scottalanmiller . I have had Frontier in one office and their quality has been HORRIBLE; ranks right up there with that other carrier everyone knows I love to hate (and, both from Rochester area??). Our Tampa office git stuck in the middle of the takeover and was down not for 4 hours, but 4 DAYS! Yep DAYS!. Now the billing issues have started as we had a special deal on our FiOS circuit that did not carry over.
For residential, I am sure they are better than Time Warner, but for business, I cannot recommend them. -
RE: What Are You Doing Right Now

RE: SharePoint reverse proxy replacement for MS ForeFront UAG
I think I posted this before? We are converting our Forefront TMG servers to Kemp for both load balancing and reverse proxy for Lync/S4B. They support Sharepoint and offer both hardware and virtual appliances. They have a free version and paid versions as well, supports AD Auth and I think NTLM. I'm not yet a direct part of the project so I haven't deep dived into it yet.

RE: Dell R710 NIC teaming issues
I am assuming you installed latest firmware, drivers and SNMP for the Broadcom NIC's?
I jsut decommissioned my last 2950 that had Broadcom in it. I know they were teamed and we did it through the BACS software not the base drivers. Exactly where though I do not remember it wasn't obvious I remember that much unlike version 3 where its right there

RE: Really, I work in the middle of nowhere.
I get that and it stinks. Verizon ran Fios Fiber through my neighborhood (literally the poles in my backyard) to interconnect 2 parts of the local town. But because my neighborrhood wasn't technically part of the town no franchise agreement and therefore stuck with cable and their crappy service and lines. Glad i moved

RE: CenturyLink, you so fancy!
We had Century Link MPLS as well a while back (6 years now). On the technical side, no major issues, Level 1 tech support was a good/bad as any other carrier; I will say their communication during any outage we had was excellent though as I would get usually 2 hour or 4 hour updates without asking.
The billing side though was horrendous. We never and I mean NEVER got a correct bill. Had to fight their billing team every month as we were supposed to be on some sort of promotion were we got a loop discount on each site, it was NEVER applied to any of our bills, had to call them and get a correction each month. -
RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Prepping for my "Poke and Prod" meeting with my boss...AKA...Annual Review. First one I've gotten in 2-3 years

RE: content filter for small school?
What about one of the DNS based filtering services? At our church I set up Dyn's Internet Guide and it works very well:

As you are probably aware, there are also services available from OpenDNS and Symantec.
